But girls are desperate for attention and do whatever they can to get it. From my essay I will talk about how fat is a feminist issue, how I can relate to it, and why it should be stopped. There are like roughly 160 billion women in the world-Cut that in half, 80 billion women are overweight? That’s crazy. What is considered overweight and who gets to make the decision whether one is overweight. So many guys and even girls pressure others to lose weight, or to look a certain way. We are considered overweight if we aren’t billboard skinny and you can see our ribs.I, and i’m sure more would blame others for the reason of so many people who are depressed because they are not skinny enough. Instead of looking at how many calories one is eating we should be looking at whether they are smiling while they are eating. Do they truly look happy or do they look scared to be eating that, look like they are doing something wrong. This all can relate back to me because when I was little, in elementary school I was always anorexic looking because I never wanted to get teased like a lot of bigger people that went to my school did.Even â€Å"normal† size people would get picked on for being too fat or eating too much. I remember going to lunch every day and getting a water and an apple, some days an apple and banana. And that is all I would eat. At dinner I would eat a lot because my mom always made me finish my plate, so I skipped breakfast to make up for it. I was so skinny, and unhealthy looking, but I remember I never got picked on so I did not care. Then when I got to like seventh or eighth grade I started to realize more of the guys were pressuring girls to look a certain way. I dated a guy who literally told me what and what I could not eat.Looking back I think he should get smacked. So many girls starved there selves just because they wanted attention from guys too. Girls would do whatever they had to to get someone to love them, even if it was for someone they were truly not. Girls, even boys should be able to express themselves for who they are. If you are a girl and someone tells you they will not date you because your jean size, forget about them. They are not even worth it. There will be girls who are always skinnier than you, some who can not help it and some who are like that because they starve themselves.I agree with Graff saying that being fat is a feminist issue just because every girl wants to have the perfect body image that different social network gives off. Like the Kardashians, or Pamela Anderson. Everyone wants to be skinny and have all the guys want them and all the girls to be jealous of them. I feel like any girl would admit this too. In some point of every girls life they felt jealous of a different girl, used a different girl’s body image as a icon to help them persevere to look like them as a motivation; As I am one. Again, being â€Å"fat† shouldn’t be a huge deal unless you are unhealthy and obese.
